Johann Strauss II’s classic Viennese operetta is an uproarious mixture of comedy and colorful characters. Spend a riotous evening oro afternoon in the company of Gabriel von Eisenstein, his beautiful wife Rosalinda, her besotted lover Alfred, the pert and saucy parlor-maid Adele, and the wily Doctor Falke, as they confuse and amuse themselves and us in a sophisticated hide-and-seek game of mistaken identity. Eisenstein postpones his prison sentence to attend Prince Orlofsky’s masked ball, only to find himself the butt of a practical joke. Fueled by deception and copious champagne, the rousing story and score will set your spirits free. Sung in English in a translation by former OIO artistic director Vern Sutton.
